Draw Error

Post  Chem.Eng on Fri May 21, 2010 3:49 pm

After typing an equation in to Z= dialog box and hitting enter, I get the following draw error:

Unexpected Error: javax.media.j3d.IndexedGeometryArray.setCoordIndicesRef([I)V

Does anyone have an idea what my problem might be? Your help would be appreciated. This little implication is keeping me from using this piece of excellent software!

Thanks.

This error is due to an older version of Java3D that was previously installed on your machine.
Are you using a Mac or Windows system?

Yeah, I'm having this same issue. I'm using Windows 7 Home Edition 64 bit, with the latest Java installed.

If it helps you any, my system is running Java(TM) 6 Update 20 as well as Java 3D 1.3.1 (OpenGL) Runtime.

I figured it out. Hey Chem.Eng, if you are running Windows 7 or something similar, either 32 bit or 64 bit (doesn't matter), download and install this. It's the latest Java 3D, it's version 1.5.1:

http://cds.sun.com/is-bin/INTERSHOP.enfinity/WFS/CDS-CDS_Developer-Site/en_US/-/USD/VerifyItem-Start/java3d-1_5_1-windows-i586.exe?BundledLineItemUUID=jY.J_hCyTI8AAAEol3lu7PxZ&OrderID=jq6J_hCyhCUAAAEoinlu7PxZ&ProductID=2hHACUFBJdIAAAEYr0U5AXuA&FileName=/java3d-1_5_1-windows-i586.exe

Now load the graphing calculator and try plotting a 3D graph. It should work now. Very Happy

Yes, that will work.
Or you could've simply uninstall Java 3D 1.3.1 because Graphing Calculator 3D already comes with Java3D 1.5.1!
This problem is usually due to situations where older Java3D such as version 1.3.1 is installed and the OS picks the older version up by mistake.
